Skilled DUI Defense In Mobile And South Alabama
Some people who face DUI charges resign themselves to a guilty verdict without trying to fight the charges. Rather than resigning yourself to the potential consequences of a conviction, it’s important that you speak with an experienced lawyer who knows how to defend your rights.
The Mims Firm, P.C., is a law firm that assists individuals and families living in Mobile, Bay Minette and communities throughout south Alabama. Since 1985, we have worked aggressively to protect our clients’ interests as we fight to reach their goals.
Our firm has a broad history of success resolving a variety of legal matters, including personal injury claims, termite infestation litigation and defending against criminal accusations. No matter how complex or serious the case is, our lawyers know how to deliver results.
Alabama’s DUI Penalties Are Serious
A DUI conviction in Alabama carries severe, life-changing penalties. The first conviction carries fines, possible imprisonment and a mandatory 90-day license suspension. Those penalties escalate rapidly for each subsequent conviction:
- Second conviction – Minimum $1100 in fines, at least 48 hours imprisonment (or 5 days community service) and a one-year driver’s license revocation and a mandatory ignition interlock installation.
- Third conviction within five years – Minimum $2,100 in fines, 60 days to one-year imprisonment and a three-year driver’s license revocation and mandatory ignition interlock installation.
- Fourth or subsequent conviction within five years – $4,100 to $10,100 in fines, one to 10 years imprisonment and a five-year driver’s license revocation.
Because of our dedication to personal service, we have many repeat clients and many referrals from satisfied former clients. When we handle your legal matter, we will be there to guide you through every step of the legal process. When you call during business hours, you will get a real person, not a recorded message. When you have questions or concerns, the answers will come directly from your attorney, not from a clerk or paralegal. We are flexible and accommodating, making ourselves available to meet during the evening or on the weekend, when necessary.
